anger · Type 9
"sedated signal, numbed"
Anger goes offline or gets smoothed before you can feel it — heat held behind a calm face. Watch the rebound: a suppressed charge can discharge incompletely and snap back into fog, sleepiness, or guilt.
For Type 9, anger is often offline or smoothed. The body holds heat but the face stays calm. Pattern to watch: suppressed anger can discharge incompletely and rebound into shutdown — eruption then fog, sleepiness, or guilt.
When the feeling is hidden, it disguises itself as calm stubbornness.
The underground anger surfaces as stubbornness, foot-dragging, and quiet resistance you may not recognize as anger at all.
How it shows up
- Braced jaw or torso with "calm face."
- Passive resistance: delay, forget, stubbornness.
- After eruption: heat spike → guilt / fog / sleepiness rebound.
The 9's anger leaks as inertia long before it ever erupts. By the time it erupts, it has already been held too long.
Conflict-Smoothing Calm
Niceness mistaken for peace. The 9 disappears from the disagreement and calls it surrender. The grievance keeps running underground; the relationship adapts to a softer, less-present version of the 9 that wasn't actually chosen.
Peace does not require losing the signal.
Forgiveness for a 9 can be co-opted into avoidance — used to skip the discomfort of contacting the anger at all. Locate the heat. Keep it small and precise. Allow without smoothing or acting out. Forgiveness can come later if it comes; release of binding is the actual work.
What release feels like
- Release of binding
- Non-hostile clarity
- Resolve
- Self-respect
- Steadiness
Anger-energy can support action without grievance. Resolve carries what heat only imitates.
